What Information is required by HUD?

There are 14 Universal Data Elements required by HUD:

  • Name
  • SS
  • Date of Birth
  • Ethnicity and Race
  • Gender
  • Veteran Status
  • Disabling Condition
  • Residence Prior to Program Entry
  • Zip Code of Last Permanent Address
  • Program Entry Date
  • Program Exit Date
  • Personal ID Number (This number is generated by CSN)
  • Program ID Number (This number is generated by CSN)
  • Household Identification Number (This number is generated by CSN)

What about security and Client Confidentiality?

CSN's browser uses a feature called SSL Secure Sockets Layer. SSL uses a cryptographic system that uses two keys to encrypt data. This feature is used by many confidential web sites such as your banking and credit card companies. The database server itself is housed by the County's IT department and is backed up frequently.

Is my organization eligible?

Does your organization provide services to the Homeless? If so you may be eligible to use CSN. However due to budget restraints and HUD policies your agency will have to be assessed. If you are interested in finding out about eligibility, please contact our HMIS System Administrator.
